Distinguished
Guests, Ladies and Gentleman
Good evening
It is a great pleasure for me to represent the Australian Consulate General
in Guangzhou and the Government of Australia to attend this China –
Australia Cultural Exchange Seminar. This is also a forum hosted by our
reputable author Ms Roz Townsend from Australia.
Australia and China has been enjoying a very close trading relationship
for a long time. China has become a critical market for the region and for
Australia and holds the promise of significant future growth and
expansion. Australia has a good reputation in the Chinese market for its
high quality products and services. We have been consistently exporting
our natural resources, primary agricultural products, raw materials, our
services to China. These products and services are playing an important
role in China’s phenomenal economic growth in recent years. However,
cultural exchange is something that we should strengthen in order to
maintain the stable and long term relationship between China and
Australia. Culture industry will be one of our focuses in the future as well.
We aim to bridge the two countries by organizing similar cultural
activities.
Ms Roz Townsend is an Australian best selling Author. Plenty of
teaching experience contributed to her past career from kinder garden to
different university levels. Her profound knowledge in educational
psychology and social psychology are highly regarded in Australia. Her
students come from all walks of life. She is often invited by ABC radio
(Australian Broadcast Corporation) to answer the questions from the
audience in relation to their daily live.
Ms Roz Townsend wrote a series of books. These books arouse
tremendous interest around the world and are extremely popular to the
readers. In Australia, the book “Living Wealth” has been recommended
as a must-read to the students in the TAFE Colleges.
The Australian Consulate General, through its Commercial Section, takes
great interest and pride in what Ms Roz Townsend has achieved in China.
The Commercial Section in the Consulate was established in 1992, and
has a primary task of facilitating Australian exporters to access the
markets in South China. I strongly believe that the success of publishing
the book “Learn really well” in China will open up broader possibilities
of cultural cooperation between China and Australia. |
